The Children’s Centre was built as the first phase of a new learning campus on the Broadwater Farm Estate.

The single storey building is expressed as two distinct components: a timber clad box with an open, transparent face and decked terrace linking the interior to landscaped play areas for 3-4 year olds; and an embracing planted green roof which extends to provide a sheltered external play area for younger children and babies.

A central corridor with continuous roof glazing brings natural light into the building and connects the two components to a generous entrance and reception area. Light and spacious classbases are easily linked together by flexible partitions which allows the building to respond to changing patterns of use.
